Wordpress Themes (revisited)

Tackling again the task of having a new theme here. But what I need probably requires more than I can manage.
Mimbo
A cool theme: but some complexities. A post at DarrenHoyt.com gives some background to using template tags and custom fields to pull out specific highlighted posts (with an image).  The instructions on his Blog are superb [...]

Three posts . . .

Why is it that when I go to blog, I often find several topics ijn my mind at once!!

Wordpress and Themes

It’s not been as simple a process to get a new theme as I thought.  Here are a few random links I have traversed in the search for a good theme.
Essential Blogging Resources and Downloads. http://blogosquare.com/
Blog Tutorials http://www.blog-tutorials.com/category/design/
An aside, in one of my favourite themes: Cutline: University of Washington Academic advice blog and MP3’s Interesting [...]

Upgraded to Wordpress 2.5

This was a suprisingly painless experieince, the first time I have done it completely unaided.  I have decided to not move over the themes: I will engage in a new theme search tomorrow and get some new ones to try.
I’d like a theme that

allows more pages, more content.
is widget ready
is easy to use with e-mail [...]

Fictional Blogging

GE331 at Otago University runs a really cool class activity.

Write collaboratively in a wiki.  (In this case a script for a soap opera)
Blog (in character, in german) for a month.  [This is an interesting genre]
Shoot the video and put it on YouTube.  (Complete with Bloopers)

See it here: http://seifenoper.wikispaces.com/
Fictional Blogging.  An interesting use of blogs, [...]

Community Platforms

Just had an e-mail from some of my buddies at cpsquare announcing a January workshop on Community Platforms.  Great Idea.  I’ve been mulling around possible futures for Interact – maybe spin it off as a slightly narrowed aim (not have to worry about all the quiz, gradebook stuff, and concentrate on core business: learning community [...]

Lots of thoughts: need to clear my head

I’ve just realised how many draft posts I have had.  14.  Most with several paragraphs of unfinished thoughts.  Some of the topics include:

unWorkshop thoughts on Professional Development
Nancy White: Competencies for online
Web 2.0 & Change Processes
E-Fest. Workshop: Creative Online Facilitation.
Memories of Setubal
Holiday reading
Cool Tools: Mindmapping
Groups and Individuals
F2F Conferences & Online

These were the posts I still have [...]

A new theme

I need a new theme. I’ve done a bit of browsing, and decided on something a little less busy than the current theme. I guess I still like Anaconda, and tried Cutline (Number 2 on Wordpress Themes) for a while, and Talian. I’ve settled on 1 blog theme. More [...]

PLE’s (My inevitable post)

I’ve been in and out of this topic for a month, ever since the SCoPE discussion finished.  I don’t have a coherent view, and whenever I’ve talked about them it’s been more a show and tell and dialogue about our lives and personal habits.  Tonight on a chat Leigh referred to them as an ‘ethic’.  [...]

Unconferences again.

Just found the blogging conference in Brisbane. A sort of unconference. Here is a quote from their page of information about format.

Adapted from the BloggerCon IV Format by David Winer.
This will be an unusual conference. We generally won’t have speakers, panels or an audience.  We will have discussions and sessions, and each session will [...]
