PolyTech Signs

Nothing serious in this post.

I just noticed this sign in the the Polytech Food Technology department, right near the kitchens and the bakeries:
no 2
Is there no teaching going on in the kitchens?

I did get a coffee however, made in the barista class:

Spelling with Google Earth . . .

Yet another fun thing . . .
I met Cherie via a friend and via skype who told me about Dean Shareski’s Blog Ideas and Thoughts. A post this week mentions yet another Google maps mashup: spelling with buildings.

Type in the phrase, and VOILA:

Your blog . . .

Another Womans Weekly type test. I found this on Derek’s Blog first. How much does your blog own of you?

31.25 %

My weblog owns 31.25 % of me.
Does your weblog own you?I’m quite clear about this: I am primarily interested in community, blogs are secondary. I was suprised though: Derek was much much higher.
But, it does not ask the real and important questions . . .

Unsocial Software

I have lost track of the blog that mentioned this. The antidote to social software. And a cheap publicity stunt for a community of bloggers. The answer to every FAQ on this page isolatr.com/faq.html is “NO!”

AFTERWORD: Months after I posted this I have met (in the space of one week) two people who’s answer to everything I have asked about has been “No”, “Not my job” or “I don’t know”. (8/11/06)

Service and petrol Stations

A brief experience at the local service station last week. The guy servng at the counter – a regular – told me a little secret. At least I presume it was a secret.

Me: (swipe, swipe – card was not reading)
Him: Just wait a bit sir. Give it a few seconds.
Me: I do this.
Him: You know sometimes if I am in a particlar mood I watch someone swipe and swipe the card and clear it each time it starts. Then I take the card and swipe it. If I’m feeling in a particlar mood I do this . . .
Me: (Stunned) (Pause) Oh. (Just one of those times I’d have liked to have a nice rejoinder)

Do I go back to this gararge?
